If you’ve never moved before, the whole process can be a bit overwhelming. You’ll need to quickly understand the ins and outs of the movers industry; not like a professional, but enough to know what you’re being charged for, etc.

We’ve all heard the horror stories of people who unpacked their belongings after their movers have left and found their valuables shattered in a million small pieces. Fortunately, during the moves that I supervised, only a very small percentage of the items ever broke, and it was usually do to the client’s poor packing skills.

On one of my last blog entries, I discussed the various insurance options available for your big move (basic coverage, declared coverage, assessed value, and last but not least, full value protection). I want to go into a bit more detail here, plus mention another option available, which is not available through your movers. In fact, many movers will not even present this option to you.
